#SaturdayMorning Wrestling

It has dawned on me only recently what a big part of my life the WWF/WWE was. I gave up on wrestling early, always got tired of Hulk Hogan winning.  Story arc was always same, but I was missing the big picture. The spectacle is the thing. Now with Ringling Bros. shutting down, wrestling is the last of the great spectacles.

In between Killer Kowalski and King Kong Bundy was George “The Animal” Steele. Rumored to have a green tongue, or to have been a high school principal, he was a fearsome wild man, stalking the ring. Now in the age of the internet, we can cut through the mystique with a few mouse clicks. RIP to a legend, and the last of the ‘real’ wrestlers. The ones without toys or marketing deals.
