MIDDLETOWN – SUNY Orange’s cafeteria workers will be laid off at the end of the spring semester, to be replaced by food-dispensing machines.
Eliminating low skill jobs and replacing that work force with machines is always a terrible idea. These jobs are starter jobs, teach you how to handle the public and a set schedule.
Also these low skill jobs is where networking happens. Many times if a customer service employee is engaging and shows a good attitude they are offered better opportunities within the company they work for, or sometimes by a customer.
Now students with headphones on will purchase muffins from kiosks.
